SCHEME FOR OVER 55’S,WEST OXFORDSHIRE

Designed in accord with the principles of the Happi report

During his time as Associate with Frankham Consultancy Group,Michael carried out a series of feasibility reports on existing sheltered housing sites, all of which had shortcomings including failure to meet modern accessibility standards. The feasibility studies looked at different options for replacement accommodation and/or site disposal. Three of the sites were subsequently built out to Michael’s designs.

The above illustrations show a replacement scheme for over 55’s on a steeply sloping site near Chipping Norton. The scheme had to meet all the modern accessibility requirements and was designed to the principles of the ‘HAPPI’ report (The Housing our Ageing Population: Panel for innovation Report), designed to foster independence and social interaction and avoid an ‘institutional’ feel.
